Glen Washington gives thanks

‘Just Giving Thanks’, the new album from Glen Washington, is scheduled for release on May 30 by Tad’s International Record. It has 14 songs, all written by the veteran singer.

The album is produced by Tad Dawkins Jr. It is the follow-up to ‘Feeling Irie’, which was released in 2024.

Washington said most of the tracks on ‘Just Giving Thanks’, including ‘Chant Them Down’ and ‘Oh, To Be Like Him’ are inspired by his Rastafarian faith.

“We have some serious message to spread, so we have a lot of roots songs here. We have to stick to the roots,” he noted.

While ‘Just Giving Thanks’ has a strong roots content, Washington does not ignore his lover’s rock base. There are several ballads on the album that appeal to fans into the softer side of reggae, such as ‘Sweet Loving And Affection’, ‘Loving You Forever’ and ‘Love Will Never Run Away’.

Several top musicians worked on ‘Just Giving Thanks’. They include bass players Flabba Holt and Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis, keyboardist Franklyn “Bubbla” Waul, drummer Kirk Bennett and saxophonist Dean Fraser.
