Four the hard way

Four veteran artists are featured on “O.C. Roberts And Friends”, an EP scheduled for release in early April.

The acts are singers O.C. Roberts, Glen Washington and Carl Malcolm, and keyboardist Ansel Collins. There are seven songs on the set, with Detroit-based Roberts contributing four.

“The concept is to bring a group of good-hearted, hard working legends together under one banner. Same styles, same musical attitude and give reggae fans a masterpiece,” he said.

One of the songs Roberts does is “Having my Baby”, first recorded in 1974 by Paul Anka and Odia Coates. It was part of his live act at Bohemia Club in Kingston during the 1970’s.

Glen Washington does “Rainy Days”, while “Muck Up” is by Malcolm. The instrumental “All Night Loving” is done by Collins, a keyboardist who has been recording since the 1960’s.

Roberts and Washington were members of The Titans, house band at Bohemia Club. Malcolm is known for hit songs such as “No Jestering” and “Fattie Bum Bum”.
