Ronnie Nasralla, an impresario who played diverse roles in the early years of Jamaica's music industry, died in Atlanta, Georgia on January 20 at age 90.
His son, Christian, confirmed his death.
Nasralla was born in Kingston, the Jamaican capital, to a family of Lebanese origin. During the early and mid-1960s, he was manager of Toots and The Maytals, The Blues Busters and Byron Lee and The Dragonaires.
He also produced songs such as "Wings of A Dove" by The Blues Busters and "It's You" by Toots And The Maytals.
Notably, Nasralla was assigned by the Jamaica Tourist Board in 1964 to promote Ska in the United States. The genre was making waves in the United Kingdom through Millie Small's big hit, "My Boy Lollipop", and Nasralla went to the US to market the sound and its dance moves.
He was recognized by the Jamaica government in 2013 with the Order of Distinction, the country's sixth highest honor.
