"Kool Runnings" is the title of the new album by veteran singer Errol Dunkley. It is expected to be released in December, though he is still shopping for a distribution deal.
The 12-song set contains original songs like the title track and "Sweets For my Sweet". There are also covers of "Just A Prisoner", made popular by James Brown and the Nina Simone standard, "My Baby Just Cares For Me".
"Is a good album suh wi a try license it to a company, 'cause wi don't have di power fi get it out there like dat," said Dunkley.
"Kool Runnings", which features the Roots Radics Band and guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith, is his first studio album since 2004's "Love is Amazing".
Dunkley, 69, has been recording since his teens when he did songs like "You're Gonna Need Me". It was followed by ballads such as "Black Cinderella", "Movie Star" and "OK Fred, which entered the British national chart.
Dunkley is from Denham Town in west Kingston, Jamaica. That community also produced singers Ken Boothe and Gregory Isaacs.
Dunkley and Isaacs formed the African Museum label in the early 1970s. He moved to the United Kingdom during that period and became a major figure in that country's reggae community.
