Released by Motown Records in 1967, "Someday at Christmas" by Stevie Wonder is a Yuletide gem for the ages. Recently, singer Empress Uneek put a reggae punch to it for the "Feel It Christmas" EP.
She said the song remains relevant given the turbulence this year with COVID-19 and political friction, particularly in the United States.
"It fits right in with the way things are in these times. Christmas is a time of love, peacefulness and happiness; it's a joyous time for most," Empress Uneek stated.
She migrated from Jamaica to the United States at age seven, so her memories of Christmas in the Caribbean are limited. The season, however, is her favorite time of the year.
"This Christmas will be a different kind of Christmas because of the COVID pandemic. But it can't stop us from enjoying the beautiful music from 'Feel It Christmas,'" she said.
"Feel It Christmas" is produced by singer/songwriter Hopeton Lindo. Released in November, it also contains "The Season" by Lindo, "A Different Christmas" (Lindo and Anthony Redrose), "My Wish For Christmas" from Peter G and "I'll be Home For Christmas", done by Novel-T.
