Throughout his career, Egg Nog has been written off by colleagues in the music industry, but after over 30 years the singjay is still making records. Recently, he filmed the video for ‘Fools Heart’, a song released two years ago by Win Win Production.
Choy Campbell, the song’s producer, believes the video will help project its resilient message. Directed by Shandel Bertram, it was filmed throughout Kingston, Egg Nog’s hometown.
The veteran artist credits the Creator for him still being in the music business.
“Him (God) never done with mi! So, mi can’t stop making music,” said Egg Nog, who is best known for ‘Party Time’, a 2002 hit song with Danny English on the Diwali rhythm.
Campbell, who is based in Philadelphia, spoke to the spiritual tone of ‘Fools Heart’.
“The message behind the song stems from the moral decay of Jamaica. We are trying to let people know that God is still real. The artist also touched on his own struggles with fall from grace to the bottom where he was written off as done, but now he finds himself rising to the top once more by the power of God,” he said.
Egg Nog’s recording career began in 1989 with ‘Mr. Wannabe’, a song produced by singer Tony Tuff. He followed-up with a series of singles for different producers until striking it big alongside Danny English with ‘Party Time’.
