E-Dee goes back to the ‘90s

For his latest song, ‘Water Run’, E-Dee went for a ‘90s dancehall feel as homage to music from an era he loves. The Los Angeles-based deejay wanted a similar vibe for its video which he directed.

The visual is produced by Clarendon Records, E-Dee’s company.

According to the lanky artist, “It’s infused with romantic and summery elements typical of the genre’s upbeat, rhythmic style. Dancehall summer love songs feature catchy melodies, a playful or sensual video, with ‘vibesy’ beach parties or romantic settings,” he explained.

Released in March, ‘Water Run’ is among several songs on the LA Champ ‘riddim’ E-Dee co-produced with Jahsee. The project has songs by Ginjah, Dilgin and Dizzle JA, who are also Southern California residents.

E-Dee brought his acting experience to the fore for ‘Water Run’s video. He has appeared in several movies including ‘Out The Gate’, ‘Gangland The Musical’ and ‘Mother In Law’.

With three albums and a number of singles to his credit, E-Dee is a popular figure on the Los Angeles dancehall scene. His objective for ‘Water Run’ is to return dancehall to its feel-good days.

“The idea was to blend Afrobeats with dancehall while infusing a '90s reggae feel — bringing back that classic, good vibe energy to dancehall. I wanted the track to feel fresh, yet nostalgic, something that connects both old-school and modern listeners,” he said.
