Chemistry pays off for Kennis Clark, Wingy Danejah

Wingy Danejah (L) and Kennis Clark Michael (R)

When American gospel artist Kennis Clark first met Wingy Danejah four years ago, he sensed a similar approach to music with his Jamaican counterpart. They have since collaborated on several songs, the latest being 'Blow my Mind '.

The song is currently #297 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart. Released last October as part of Clark's album, 'Kennistry', it is co-produced by Lee Martin Owen and Karel Rodgers.

Clark said 'Blow my Mind' is different from his previous songs with the South Florida-based Wingy Danejah.

"This one brought out the groovy vibes and combined R&B with a traditional reggae tone and amazing bass feels," he explained.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based singer added that neither he nor Wingy Danejah are surprised at the positive response to 'Blow my Mind '.

"This song has been such a light and has shown the immense favor of God! We knew it would resonate and connect with people worldwide," said Clark.

Previously, he and Wingy Danejah collaborated on ‘Clean Heart’ and ‘My Friend’ with American rapper Kidd Lee.

Wingy Danejah has been recording since the 1990s. He hails from Portmore, a community on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital.

Heavily influenced by dancehall music in his youth, he has incorporated that sound with hip hop and R&B in some of his songs to reach diverse markets.
