‘Elephant’, the second EP from singer/musician Cen’C Love, is scheduled for release in October. It contains three songs including ‘Habibi’ which came out in March.
The Florida-based artist wrote and produced the songs, as well as played keyboards, guitar and percussion. ‘A Little More Time’, Cen’C Love’s first EP, was released in 2008.
‘Elephant’, she notes, reflects her eclectic tastes.
“Elephant is a three-song project. It’s like a reintroduction, a lot of drum and bass. Same classic crossover vibe,” said Cen’C Love.
The moody ‘Habibi’ was released around the same time as ‘Is This Love’, her duet with drummer/singer Paul Kastick. That song is a remake of the classic 1987 power ballad by rock band, Whitesnake.
They represent a comeback to the spotlight for Cen’C Love, who is the daughter of reggae legend Bunny Wailer who died in 2021. In 2011, she released ‘Love Letter’, her only album which was followed by a spattering of singles.
In recent years, Cen’C Love has worked behind the scenes as a producer with Capleton, Sizzla, Richie Spice, Cocoa Tea, and Warrior King. She spoke about the expectations of being the child of a superstar.
“There is some pressure that comes with being Bunny Wailer’s daughter. Mostly, people assuming that I’m a ‘nepo baby’, but it’s not what people think. I have definitely benefited in some ways, but I’ve still had to go through the rounds,” Cen’C Love explained. “I think it hurts me in some ways too, because people assume I have all these connections and resources, but I really have to put in the work. Not at all a gold spoon situation.”
