Carlene Davis returns with Cover Me

“Cover Me”, the latest song from Carlene Davis, is scheduled for release this month. Produced by her husband Tommy Cowan, it is the follow-up to “You’ve Got A Friend”, which came out last summer.

Cowan said “Cover Me” is a tease of things to come from Davis, an ordained minister of religion. It is the lead song from her upcoming album which he describes as a concept project.

On “Cover Me”, Davis worked with musicians from the “You’ve Got A Friend” session. They include singer Pam Hall, drummer Dave Green and guitarist Brendan Benjamin.

“You’ve Got A Friend” is a cover of the classic single written by Carole King, and made famous by Roberta Flack.

Davis’ previous album, “The Assignment”, was released in November, 2018 by VP Records. “Dripping Blood”, her 2015 set, entered the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, a rare feat for a gospel artist.

According to Cowan, the yet-titled album also features Dalton Browne, the veteran session guitarist who died in November.
