Bashwa takes control with Table Turn

When singjay Bashwa and creative partner DJ Andre NYC started B13 Records six years ago, their objective was to make quality music without restrictions.

In January, the independent label released "Table Turn", an EP by Bashwa that features the title song.

Bashwa addressed the benefits of an artist owning their label.

"It help to showcase your talent because most producers don't like working with young artists. Having your own label mek yuh hone yuh craft an' you're in control," he said.

Most of the songs on "Table Turn" are produced by B13 Records. In addition to the title track, they include "Mama Life Soon Change" and "Dreams Come Through".

"Table Turn", the song, focusses on crime in May Pen, a business district and chief town of Clarendon parish in Jamaica where Bashwa is from.

He said the song has done well, opening doors for him to perform in Antigua, Barbados, St. Maarten and Trinidad and Tobago.
