Autarchii savors Black Beauty

For different reasons, 2020 will be remembered as the year black women created social change. The controversial death of Breonna Taylor in Kentucky placed American law enforcement under the microscope, while Kamala Harris, who has Jamaican roots, was named running mate to Joe Biden, the Democrat presidential candidate.

Singer Autarchii uplifts the African queen on "Black Beauty", a song produced by Montego Records.

"It is extremely important to project the black woman in a positive light, given that without her there would be no existence of life. Society on a hold tends to have a misconstrued concept of who the black woman is, which often leads to her displaying a false imagery," he said. "Hence, when a black man accepts the task of clarifying her true potential, it gives her the confidence to break loose of stereotypes and fully embrace her identity as divine African royalty. When a black man is projected in a positive light it also boosts the black family structure, which is what we need to defeat racism and white supremacy."

"Black Beauty" was released last November but Autarchii and his team stepped-up promotion of the single following the debut of its video in May.

The single is part of his album, "2000 Years: The New Faculty Of Interpretation", which was scheduled for a summer release. That has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

"Black Beauty" is also a departure from Autarchii's hard-hitting message songs like "Land of The Free" and "Cure my Pain". The 26 year-old artist says it shows his versatility.

"I have a lot of unreleased ballads, so singing this type of song isn't abnormal to Autarchii. However, similar to 'Black Beauty', when I do release those they will still maintain a strong sense of African presence and glorification of a black woman," he explained. "Throughout the history of our music there has been glorification of African women, mostly on her physical beauty but only a few have explored the African woman's mind and importance to modern civilization. I plan to explore that with more upcoming ballads."
