The thanksgiving service for Bunny Wailer is scheduled for April 10, his birthday, the legendary singer/songwriter’s son has disclosed.
Asadenaki Livingston, one of Wailer’s 13 children, said the date will be finalized “depending on the government’s approach to COVID-19 at that time.”
Wailer, along with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, were the most famous of the six persons who formed The Wailers circa 1963. He died in Kingston on March 2 at age 73.
He suffered two major strokes in 2018 and last year.
Asadenaki, himself a singer, did not say where the service will be held. There has been speculation it will take place at Wailer’s Dreamland farm in Portland parish, eastern Jamaica.
Wailer and Tosh left The Wailers in 1974 for solo careers. The following year, with support from the group’s band, he recorded “Blackheart Man”, considered one of the great statement albums.
Marley died in 1981 while Tosh was murdered at his home in 1987.
Wailer’s best known songs include “Fighting Against Conviction”, “Amagideon”, “Rootsman Skanking” and “Cool Runnings”. He won three Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album.Written By Howard
