Ambelique hits the mark with Blind Spot

Ambelique has hit number one in South Florida and New York with ‘Blind Spot’, his album which was released last November. It is produced by Willie Lindo for Heavy Beat Records.

The singer’s ninth album, it is currently in its third straight week atop the South Florida Reggae Chart. It is also number one on the Foundation Radio Network Chart which covers the New York City reggae scene.

Both lists are compiled by respected Jamaican broadcaster Clinton Lindsay.

The album includes the sultry title track and a cover of soul legend Bobby Blue Bland’s ‘Ain’t No Love In The Heart of The City’.

Ambelique credits Lindo’s steady hand for ‘Blind Spot’ being his strongest album to date.

“Willie took me through my paces. For the first time in my 30-odd years of singing, I never realized I had a problem with a particular note and Willie pointed that out to me, and that alone caused me to be a better singer,” he said.

The 14-song ‘Blind Spot’ is Ambelique’s first album in 20 years. His previous set, ‘Let’s Take A Chance’, was produced by Kufe Records.

For the long-awaited follow-up, the South Florida-based artist worked with Lindo, whose impressive production resume includes songs by JC Lodge (‘Someone Loves You Honey’), Beres Hammond (‘One Step Ahead’ and ‘What One Dance Can Do’) and Dennis Brown (‘Inseparable’ and ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You’).
