ROUGHCUT VIBES WITH DJ ROUGH CUT

BIOGRAPHY
Sean 'DJ Rough' Todd, was born and raised in Kingston 11 Jamaica. He was first exposed to playing music using records at 37 Hyde Park Rd. An integrated component system, with Tuner and Record Player was the focal point of the 'Living Room'. It was here that music permeated the house, everyone was able to buy their own 7” or 12” records and spin music when it was their turn. A graduate of Jamaica College, he migrated to Hartford Connecticut in 1982. Enlisting in the CT Army National Guard for 6 years, he was able to earn enough to afford sound system equipment and records. The DJ was born. He was the DJ for a Reggae / Rap group called, RNM - 'Roughneck Massive'. The music was a blend of Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-hop. The first RCS-1 ‘Rough-cut Sounds’, recording studio was built. Rough started producing music for the group, they released their 1st single, ‘Rated-R’ in 1986, and ‘The Roughneck Anthem’ EP in 1989 After adding music production to his resume Rough also spit his first verse on the RNM - EP. The group faded in the early 90s and Rough continued to modify and master his studio equipment.
While in CT, Rough had his first exposure to FM Radio with Barney Rebel who inherited a slot from female host CJ at WESU 88.1 Wesleyan University, one of the oldest terrestrial radio stations in the US… This would be his introduction to broadcasting, at the time it was a tool for promoting RNM music but greater ideas were growing.
He moved to FL in 2005 and was on air at WEDJ in West Palm Beach for a couple years while building a state-of-the-art recording / broadcast studio RCS-4. In 2011 He decided to leave the 9 to 5 for five years returning to school to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in school Rough started WENX – ‘We Next’ Online radio. The station had disc jocks in Spain, Jamaica, US, and UK. Upon graduating he returned to work as a Design Engineer while focused on building Rough-cut Entertainment, which is the home of WENX, RCS-4 (recording studio) and LION CUB ‘The Cassette Sound’.
