Popeye Caution, Ding Dong  go Bezerk

With the Covid-19 blues beginning to clear, party animals are anxious to roam the clubs and return to live shows this summer. Deejays Popeye Caution and Ding Dong hope one of the songs on the turntables will be their “Bezerk”.

The uptempo single was released May 21. It is produced by Earthquake out of New York.

While expectations for a bumper summer season are high among dancehall’s major players, Popeye Caution said he had no specific period in mind when crafting “Bezerk”.

“We actually just wanted to put out an energetic song to get people back active after the crazy year we all had. The timing was just perfect and I’m happy that the fans are already embracing it,” he said.

It is his second song with Ding Dong, flamboyant leader of the Ravers Clavers dance group. Their first collaboration, “Good Ting Dem”, was released in 2019.

“’Ding’ and I have been friends for years and we always share ideas. We just decided to give the fans another vibe with the two of us,” said Popeye Caution.

Though he was born in Kingston, Popeye Caution has lived for most of his life in Florida. From there, he has recorded a number of songs including “Hollywood” and “Cool Like Breeze”.

Ding Dong is one of the faces of contemporary dancehall. His breakout hit was “Holiday”, one of the most popular dancehall songs for 2009.
