Fire Child brings the heat

Born in a country where racial pride was critical to survival, Fire Child calls on black women to celebrate their natural beauty with the song, "Know Yourself".

The single features singjay Iba Mahr,  the second Jamaican artist South Africa-born Fire Child has released a song with.

The Toronto-raised act said since moving to Canada as a child, he has been immersed in Jamaican culture.

"I've learned and experienced a lot on this journey, lots of ups and downs as we all know life to be, but through it all I've had my reggae/dancehall music as part of that soundtrack of my life," Fire Child explained. "Artists like Busy Signal is definitely one of those that has had a high impact on me from those times till now, and getting to work with people you have seen on TV screens and have had such an effect on the culture, was truly amazing. Llikewise with Iba Mahr; when I heard Great is H.I.M. for the first time, I felt the power in the brother."

"Badmind" is the song he did with Busy Signal last year. Fire Child has also worked with Jesse Royal, Tarrus Riley and I-Octane on yet-released songs. In Toronto, he was opening act at shows for General Trees, Capleton, Sizzla Elephant Man, T.O.K and Luciano.
